This video explains why fructose is dangerous for people, especially those with insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome, and type 2 diabetes. Fructose is the major cause of fatty liver disease. Fatty liver disease causes insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome, obesity, and type 2 diabetes. Eating fructose containing foods will worsen these conditions and can cause dangerous results. Sources of fructose in the diet are table sugar (sucrose), fruits, and high fructose corn syrup (an artificial sweetener). Insulin resistance/ metabolic syndrome is a major risk factor for heart attack and stroke. Therefore, people with insulin resistance would be better served following the ketogenic diet than the vegetarian or the whole foods plant based diet. A whole foods plant based diet (consisting of lots of fruits) will worsen diabetes and pre-diabetes and will have disastrous results for these people. Two thirds of Americans are overweight or obese and suffer from insulin resistance/ prediabetes. That is why a ketogenic diet is better than a vegan diet for Americans that are over 40 years of age and overweight.
